Only a Government elected through Clean Elections will be a Clean Government. A Government Elected through Money Politic will be a Corrupt Government

Clean and fair elections is the foundation of a democracy system. In Malaysia and in Sarawak, money politics and gerrymandering are the main stumbling blocks to clean and fair elections.

Money politics is especially rampant in the Sarawak rural area.

In the recent re-delineation of the State Assembly constituencies, the gerrymandering is made even worse. We have a DUN constituency with only 6000 voters on the one hand and some areas with more than 30000 voters. This is clear violation of the universally accepted principle of one-man-one vote.

Despite the perceived openness of Adenan Satem in some of his action and his speeches, but when it comes to his political power base, he condones such unfair re-delineation.

It just shows that the Sarawak BN, under Adenan’s leadership, will by hook or by crook, give itself the extra advantages to win more seats in elections, regardless whether such means are against the fundamental principle of fairness and justice.

It is an undeniable fact that only a Government cleanly and fairly elected will implement clean and fair policies.

A Government elected through gerrymandering and money politics will end up to be a corrupt government. This is the case of BN, be it the Federal BN and also the Sarawak BN. Such a government will, during its term of office, accumulate more money for its leaders so that come elections, more money can be deployed to further consolidate their bases.

Therefore, all the more BERSIH movement and its No.1 message (Clean Elections) must be supported promoted and propagated in Sarawak.
