Wan Junaidi has made a racist statement in Parliament and no amount of twisting by his private secretary Wan Hamzah Wan Paie can disguise that statement as a non-racist one.

No amount of twisting by Wan Hamzah Wan Paie can save Wan Junaidi of his racist statement in the eye of the public.

The offending words uttered by Wan Junaidi on 18-3-2014 in Parliament has been re-produced verbatim many times:
Sebenarnya, olehkerana orang Melayusensitifsangatkepadakes-kesseks di antarabeliaini, makalaporanmestidibuatolehpihak-pihakini. Pihak lain mungkinkurangsensitifkepadanyamakanisbahnyadapatditerima, perkara yang berlakuitubolehditerimaolehpihak-pihak lain.”
( Actually, because Malays are so sensitive to cases of sex between youths, so reports had to be lodged. Others might be less sensitive to the matter so the numbers are acceptable, so what happens is more acceptable for the other parties.)

There are two racist accusations contained in Wan Junaidi’s statement, namely:
1.         other races are less sensitive to sex between youths; and
2.         sex amongst youth is more acceptable for the other races.
Such words were uttered in the context when Wan Junaidi was referring to sexual activities by those under the age of 16, which constitute statutory rapes.

Till this day (5 days after Wan Juanidi made his statement in Parliament), Wan Junaidi has been keeping quiet on the matter, only his private secretary came out to defend what is indefensible.  Wan Hamzah has even threatened to take action against me for twisting and wrongly interpreting the statement of Wan Junaidi.

While Wan Hamzah accuses me of twisting and wrongly interpreting Wan Junaidi’s statement, he has failed to recognise the fact that not only the Pakatan Rakyat Members of Parliament but also many of the BN’s leaders shared my reading of Wan Junaidi’s statement.

After I brought the matter up in Parliament, Wan Junaidi’s counterparts in BN have also openly criticised Wan Junaidi for making such statement.  Even those notorious UMNO leaders did not come to the defence of Wan Junaidi.

Wan Junaidi’s statement was produced verbatim in the web news portal, Malaysiakini, and has, to-date, attracted a shocking 416 comments from its readers.  Looking through the comments, I can find not a single comment supporting Wan Hamzah’s view.

It is a fact that elected representatives from both BN and PR and also the general public read Wan Junaidi’s statement the way I read it.  Till this day, it is only Wan Hamzahwho reads it differently and yet he accuses me of wrongly interpreted Wan Junaidi’s statement.

Thus, it is clear that Wan Hamzah is just trying to wriggle a way out for his master, while WanJunaidikeeps quiet and adopts a “wait and see” tactic, directing his private secretary to test the water.
